Clearing the air filter

We placed the hood on the car to see if the hood would hit the air filter. The hood did not clear the air filter and raised the hood up in the back.

Stove

Due to the cold weather, we bought a wood burning stove to keep us warm in this barn while working.

Getting the convertible top installed

My dad's 68 Firebird is getting close to being finished. The next step is to get the top installed. My dad hired two guys recommended to us to install the top and cut the holes for the switches in the door panels.

402

Last Friday the guy that traded us his Pontiac 400 for our 402 came to get it. It was a hassle loading it up in his trailer, but considering it's weight it's was fairly easy.

Gas tank

While we were setting up the digital dash in my dad's car we realized the fuel sending unit was bad. We had to drop the gas tank to get to it. We pulled out the fuel sending unit and realized it was the original sending unit inside a new gas tank.

Steering column

My dad purchased a new steering column for his 68 Firebird; his old one did not have a tilt wheel. The newly rebuilt stearing column came from a 68 Firebird.

AC Unit

We have been trying to figure out how to install the new AC unit into my dad's Firebird. It mounts in the dash on the passenger side.

Dash

This week, we have been working on the center dash to my dad's Firebird. We have installed the AC control unit and the radio.

Pontiac 400 for the 67 Firebird

We have been looking for a Pontiac 400 block to replace the 402 big block in my 67 Firebird. We found a local person on Craigslist that has a Pontiac 400 and wants to trade for our 402 big block.
This is a picture of the Pontiac 400

Installing power windows and door locks

My grandpa and I are installing power windows and door locks for my dad's car. The power windows are taking a long time to install. If the windows are not installed perfectly, they won't work and you risk a chance of burning up the motor.
The power door locks are fairly simple and there are several different ways of installing them.

Insulating

We have been insulating my dad's 68 Firebird with a sticky rubber material  you role on the floor panels and door panels. The insulation helps keep a constant temperature in the car and reduce road noise.

We bought the new dash speakers last weekend at Fire Wheel. It fits underneath the dash right above the heater control.

Identifying shifter

We are trying to identify the type of B&M shifter that came with my dad's 68 firebird. It turned out to be a B&M Quick Silver Shifter.

We are putting disk brakes and coil springs on the car. Getting ready to send the car to a body shop.
We put the frame back on the car. We are getting ready to install the brakes.
The new break booster has been installed on the car.

Reinstalled the steering

We are reinstalling the power steering onto the car, so we can get ready to pull it out of the barn.

Disk breaks

My grandpa and I are assembling the new disk brakes for the 67 Fire Bird.

The frame is off and we have ordered all new suspension parts. While we wait we're sand blasting and cleaning the fire wall.
The motor is out and we're cleaning up the front end trying to get it ready for paint.
We are pulling the big block 402 that the previous owner had installed. Due too it's size, we plan to replace it with the original 400 or a 350 Chevrolet.
Removing the fenders and front radiator support was very time consuming due to all the small parts and hidden bolts.
Loading up our new 67 firebird was quite the challenge, due to it's flat tires and slick metal on the U-Haul trailer.
Before we purchased the Firebird, we made one last inspection of our new project car.
